I had to do a long walk today along a street called Frankfurter Alle in Berlin. Kilometers and kilometers of asphalt and Communist-looking buildings, divided by the typical line of green area. As much as it doesn't sound beautiful, the ability to look into the horizon and see the tower of Alexanderplatz while the sun is slowly falling behind - mesmeric.
As I was walking and thinking my own shit, I felt it would be a good night for another series of #sadbangers. These kind of tunes which make you really detach from your body and try to reflect on whatever is happening with you; process decisions... let yourself go and just float with whatever cards life has dealt to you. Pretty useful night, if you ask me. And in such night, things music-wise coudln't have happened any better as one of my favourite artists Ben Howard released a new track - "End Of The Affair". Even before I hit the play button I knew that would be my sad banger tonight.
I've said it before, but this guy's music is basically drenched with memories from the past few years and as much as it is fairly sad, it has a special effect which it is hard to put into words.
Just in case if they take off the SoundCloud, here's the YouTube.
