Bastille is the heart throb of many a teenage girls now a days. And it's understandably so. His vocal and songwriting talent is undeniable. But he won the hearts of many more with his two mixtapes, Other People's Heartaches, both parts 1 and 2, where he covered and remixed many songs to make them his own. One of the songs featured on these compilations is "No Angels", a hauntingly beautiful mashup of The xx's minimalist "Angels" and TLC's "No Scrubs".
Bastille manages to perform the girl-power anthem "No Scrubs" into his own unique ballad. It may seem cheesy in words that a man's singing such a feministic song, but it's absolutely stunning. He also manages to receive a little help from fellow UK singer Ella, which helps make the song so powerful. The orchestral backing from "Angels" accompanies the song so gorgeously that I can not imagine it any other way. "No Angels" is, in my opinion, one of Bastille's absolute best tracks, if not the best.
