In 2011 Londoner Thomas Timothy Vernon-Kell, a.k.a. Tom Vek released his sophomore album Leisure Seizure, which became one of the musical highlights of the year. So naturally I was eager to find out what was the direction he chose three years later for his 2014 Luck LP. As it turns out the course hasn't taken any unexpected U-turns, but rather continues down the lane of neurotic electronica, droning vocals and offbeat pop.

There's consistency in Tom Vek's videos as well, in the sense that he creates awesome visual effects with subtle tricks and small budget. The clip for "Pushing Your Luck" mimics thematically related slot machine, which alternates singing Vek with burning watermelon slices, cherries hanging over winter slopes and a bunch of other weird images.

Stay up to date.
