Each year, I watch for festivals line up with excitation and expectations. I ain't talking about Coachella here - or anything alike. But if I do watch for one in particular is Le Printemps de Bourges, which take place in the city of Bourges, France.
I know what you think: why would I want to go to a festival not set in my own Parisian area when there're already plenty of offers!? Well, simply because Le Printemps de Bourges is a limelight event in the year since 39 years. If you're a music-fan - as I am - and always willing to discover tomorrow's acts: That's the place to be!
This 2015 edition is quite promising and eclectic. So you better book your holiday from April 24th to 29th!
Among the headliners you will be able to see Angus & Julia Stone, Selah Sue, Asaf Avidan, Christine & the Queens or SBTRKT. But Stereofox's personal favorites will probably be Odesza, Fyfe, Kid Wise, Isaac Delusion, Fakear, FKJ and many others.
However if I had to give you one piece of advice: Take the time to go to little venues - it's the best way to make the best of your time by visiting the city and its region, and discovering blossoming artists. Among them I would highly recommend Jeanne Added, Faada Freddy, Thylacine, or La Fine Equipe. Others promising acts will be unveiled in March - that is when we'll have the results of Les Inouïs – a music contest for growing acts.
And if you’re a jazz enthusiast, don’t miss one of Le Printemps de Bourges’ creation “Autour de Nina”, a tribute show to Nina Simone created by Clément Ducol and featuring artists such as Yaël Naim, or Hugh Coltman.
A another genre, a tribute has also been created to honor Elliott Smith, the late rocker. It’s called “The Color Bars Experience” and featured the voices of Grandaddy singer Jason Lytle, Chokebore Troy Von Balthazar and Posies Ken Stringfellow.
A focus is also made on the Middle East scene and will shelter acts from Lebanon (Radio KVM), Egypt (Islam Chipsy), Israël (head liner Asaf Avidan & Yael Naïm) and Palestine (DAM).
Here’s the full line-up – minus the announcement of more acts to come later on.
Stay up to date.
