Fresh on the heels of breakthrough track 'Borrowers', UK urban act Mahalia returns with the stand-out, semi-autobiographical "Back Up Plan".

Through a blend of spoken-word and melancholic melodies, Mahalia once again showcases her unique ability to deliver captivating tracks derived from a combination of influences and sub-genres.

Speaking about the song's origination (celebrity obsession) Mahalia says, "Its one of the first songs I wrote when I was really young and it came out of watching reality programmes on telly and really sensing that 'just wanting to be famous' was never going to be enough. I guess I'm also saying that as much as you need to follow your dream, there's always a price to pay".

You can catch Mahalia across the festival circuit this summer (Barn on the Farm, The Great Escape) in addition to a supporting slot with fellow rising-star Frances at KOKO later next month.
