Last Thursday, Berlin was taken to the generation of artists born in the early ‘90s, to give an intense night of sounds that invited listeners to visit a parallel universe. In charge were Dream Koala and Catching Flies, and the selected place was Gretchen.
Thursday is a good opportunity to let the weekend begin, and what’s better than starting with a good dose of music. Gretchen was the architect of this great night, offering up the experimental sounds. And the young artists were in charge of the rest.

Close to 9 pm, Yndi Ferreira aka Dream Koala appeared to complete the stage that was decorated with his instruments: a guitar, a controller and a computer. During “Saturn Boy” and the entire presentation, his magic presence managed, for close to an hour, to transport everyone in the crowd to a castle in the air.
Ferreira knows how to do it. He can take the scenario and make a dream of all human beings that are curious enough to go to see him in concert. His voice is simply lovely and the sounds that he produces are in perfect harmony. The variation between the acoustic and the machines created a perfect universe of rhythms and sensations.
He took the opportunity to do a review of his material that you can enjoy in his Youtube Channel - this is the signature of his generation, isn’t it? Then he opened his wings with “Gold”, “Earth”, “Dimension Sleeper”, and “Odyssey”. This one could have been the last one, but he gifted us one new song to close. A blessed night.
And the first unofficial evening of this spring weekend in Berlin finished with the guest from the UK, Catching Flies, who plays (literally) with others’ and his own songs, giving a different life to the music with a machine drum, a keyboard and a controller.
This is another way to treat the experimental elements in music, with more opportunities to dance, when the imagination can dream of movement.
