I clearly remember this autumn day last year when I first heard "Cola", Arlo's debut single. My mind was blown, but I didn't quite realise back then what a star she's about to become.
A year later, she's on fire, just finished accompanying Jordan Rakei on tour, plus about to join Loyle Carner on his UK run this month. And here she is, dropping the lustful "Sophie".
Blending her specifically silky vocals, plus gentle spoken hip hop (or articulated sonnet, as she calls it), all topped up with r&b elements. Arlo explains the meaning behind:
"Sophie" is a song about crumbling under expectations and feeling helpless, but with a persistent, quiet sense of hope underpinning it.
This is the title track of her forthcoming Sophie EP.
