I have been meaning to do a feature for Four Tet's tremendous new single "Two Thousand and Seventeen", but just hadn't got round to it yet. I now understand why I was taking my time...
Obviously I was waiting for Ara Macao's hypnotic mash up of Radiohead's "Climbing Up the Walls" and Four Tet's latest single. His track is titled "Climbing Two Thousand And Seventeen".
On making his track, Brazilian electronic producer Luis Calil, or better known as Ara Macao, noticed that the two songs had the same baseline, so, with a little fine tuning and a vocal take, voila this epic track was brought to life. The result is simply magical.
Ara Macao has also released a Youtube video for the track (see below), which includes footage from SOLARIS, the 1972's sci-fi epic. On the choice to use this particular film, Calil describes"parallels between Yorke's lyrics and the plot of the movie, which involves a man being haunted by memories and a nameless threat".
This track is epic and addictive - I've had it on repeat all week!
