I've known Dutch duo ANOTR for their ability to create positive and emotionally charged electronic-flavoured music. That being said, Jesse and Oz are the kind of creative people who like to evolve, change, and experiment and that's pretty evident from their latest releases, leading up to their highly anticipated album On A Trip LP, scheduled for release on Jan 31st. A record that's bound to capture and showcase their artistic evolution.
Described as a shroom-fueled journey, the album was crafted during a series of psychedelic creative retreats across Ibiza, Los Angeles, and the Netherlands. Fueled by micro-dosing psilocybin mushrooms, these sessions opened up fresh creative channels, inspiring bold and innovative sonic explorations. “It’s the scariest thing we’ve ever done music-wise,” they share, “but we had a lot of fun doing it".
Today's highlight is the latest single called "Care For You" and if you dig acts like Jungle or Tame Impala, you'll feel right at home. In 3 minutes and 28 seconds full of bliss, the Dutch duo blends silky alt-soul textures with lush guitar riffs, breezy vocals, steady drum grooves, and sweeping violins. A great example of the genre-defying exploration I mentioned earlier.
Listening to "Care For You" made me recall quite a few spaced out chill session with mates over the years and what I loved the most about is was the feel-good, welcoming energy oozing out of every note.
