Great neo-soul comes in all languages.
This jazz-infused beauty is thanks to German singer Anna Grillmeier. "Raum" (meaning "space") is the title & opening track of her latest EP and has the most delicate keys, gentle drum groove & spacious guitars, all underneath a gorgeous heartfelt vocal delivery. Anna elaborates on the meaning:
„Raum“ is not only the song that opens the EP but also the namesake of the entire work. Why? Because I feel that it is exactly what I don‘t give myself enough of, even though it would often trigger the inner peace that I need. Space to be myself. Space to allow emotions to unfold. Space to give myself room. Space to heal. I wrote this song when I had to say goodbye to someone in my life. Farewell can break your heart, but at the same time, it can save your soul. Eventually, not only the soul may be grateful for closure, but also the heart. Because sometimes, when you have to bid farewell to someone, you can finally welcome yourself."
Just wait for the part where the song completely erupts, like a soul letting go.
I highly encourage you to check the full EP out, whether or not you speak German:
