Okay, it's official - the Saturday rumours about a new Alt-J album are true.

The band confirmed the release of Relaxer and shared the full first single off the record "3WW" like 20 minutes ago. I was kinda lucky to be able to jump on this before heading off for the day. I wasn't sure what to make out of the track. The intro is quite... the hard-hitter and then things soften out, but actually - I do quite like it. It sounds like a fairy tale and I think the female vocals towards the end are definitely a good addition.

It's a good reason to be curious and excited for the sound direction they will be going this time.

In a message on Facebook, the trio shared:

We have a new album called 'RELAXER'. Stream the first single, 3WW, and pre-order the album - https://alt-j.lnk.to/Relaxer. Our new webstore will also launch later today where you can pre-order some physical bundles of the album.

We'd like to thank you for your patience over the last year or so. After finishing touring 'This Is All Yours' in December 2015 we took a long break. Thom released a solo album; Gus opened a restaurant; Joe has been watching a lot of films. We hadn't set a time limit on our time off but by August 2016 we were ready to get back into the studio. The result is our third album, RELAXER, and we are really excited for you to hear it.
