The long-awaited third LP the making of silk by Australian singer and 30/70 Collective frontwoman Allysha Joy is finally here.
Allysha has been teasing us with a few singles along the way and we've been diligently paying attention. After marvelous tracks like "david", "raise Up" and "dropping keys", it's time to experience the full art crafted by the talented singer/songwriter.
Crafted with deep care and entirely self-produced, The Making of Silk explores a fresh and profound interpretation of love. Joy elaborates:
"It's the kind of love that bell hooks writes about, that lives in the poetry of Mary Oliver, Hafiz, and the passionate dreaming of a Koryusai painting. It’s about a love that is compassionate, that lives in open conversation, deep listening, the front lines of social movement, and would never seek to stifle the light in you. It’s about accepting our aloneness, the impermanence of all things, and still forever wanting to prove it wrong, to say that I understand that all things change, all things end, hurt exists, but I will love regardless."
I have a special surprise for you - a full album review and interview with Allysha herself coming up next week, so stay tuned for more. Until then - one of my favorite tracks from this morning - "reset : ____".
