The start of the year is a time for reflection.
What better soundtrack to this than acoustic folk? Welcoming the Halifax band Alex Coley & Afterlove and their utterly warm & beautiful "Silent in My Car."
Their 2nd-ever single serves as a touching reminder of the serenity found in comfortable quietude with a loved one. Crafted in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, at the end of a long-term relationship, Alex Coley found himself craving the silent company of his partner and longing for those times without disputes over who is right or wrong.
Alex elaborates, “My ex and I still aren’t friends, so similarly, on some days that makes me sad or resentful and other days I still find myself hoping that will change. It was written and recorded during one of the toughest moments of my life and it’s wonderful and awful to have something that can transport me back to that moment in such a visceral and intimate way.”
With its melancholic vocals and soothing guitars, "Silent in My Car" resonates with anyone who has experienced the solace of comfortable silence with a loved one, while simultaneously striking a chord with those who have mourned the loss of love.
