Just like the last time we featured the amazing voice of XamVolo, I'll start this feature with the following snippet from his Soundcloud - "...it could be a vibe". Actually this is more than just a feature. Today we're honoured to premiere his forthcoming release titled Chirality.
Ready to hit the start button of the amazing soulful neo-jazz 4 track journey ahead of you?
The EP kicks off with "Down" - our first feature of the 22-year-old artists which is a perfect initiation step to the overall vibe of the EP. I have to say I was quite impressed stumbling about a quote from him regarding the inspiration behind the tune referring to the balance between personal relationship and goals:
A few years ago when I just started out, I held the mindset that the less of a ‘life’ you had, the more work you could put in to achieve what you desired. I still feel there’s some truth to that, but I now realise that having that ‘life’ is important because avoiding life experiences will eventually leave you with nothing to say
Going back to how the EP spans out, after the soulful jazzy smoothness of "Down", things definitely become more vibrant with "Runner's High" and it's distinctive synth sound. I can't really pin why, but this track just feels somehow different than the rest of the EP. There's definitely something in those synth chords!
I usually avoid doing track-by-track "read" on albums or EPs because I believe the whole picture makes much more sense if things are somehow connected together. I have to say that the other 2 tracks which are new to me too - "Gold Leaf" and "Foolish Kids" quickly became my personal obsession. Some of the grooviest neo-soul beats I've heard in a long, long time.
I hope you guys enjoy this sonic masterpiece called Chirality EP. Personally, I'm quite excited about XamVolo's music journey. Being 22 and creating such music only means there's good things ahead.
