One year ago, I was reviewing Waking Aida excellent debut album Eschaton. And now the band is back with its sophomore album Full Heal, via Robot Needs Home. Full Heal has been released last Friday (September, 18th) and - on this rainy September day - brings out sunny vibes.
More piano driven, Full Heal unveils long tracks exploring a wide universe.
The album opens on "Exploding Palm" - a blasting 7-minute long track easing down into a joyful tune and finishing up on a childish piano-led lullaby. "Blue Shell" explores Foals-injected rhythmic. It's a track engaging us on a dream, yet an alarm clock is set to bring us back to the world's turmoil.
The songs are in turns a whirl of raw energy ("Higher Fives Than You'll Ever Be"), a soundtrack to the wilderness ("A Sort of Calm", "Day - Glo Forest") and a relaxing adventure ("Jilted Surfers"). "Fume" even set sails in the electro territory with analog beats & reverbs, giving way to a darker atmosphere. The closing and eponymous track "Full Heal" has this epic sound that will urge anyone to move mountains.
