wiebke's music has its own alluring way of making the world stop. The Leipzig-based singer/songwriter excels when it comes to creating compelling and transformative storytelling, fuelled by human experiences we all can relate to - pain, love, nostalgia, and anything in between. All that channeled through soul, r&b, indie, and spoken-word music.

Today the spotlight shines on her debut 8-track album Space In Between, released on January 31st. My first exposure to the release was the opener "Living Freely Is Loving Truly" and it instantly struck a chord with me. With vocals that reminded me of Florence & The Machine, it felt heavy on the heart, but at the same powerful and invigorating. I wasn't sure what to expect from the whole experience as she was a new name in my book, but as soon as the follow-up "Who I Am" started playing, I knew that wiebke is the kind of artist who cherishes freedom and is not afraid to experiment while keeping the theme consistent.

As I journeyed through the eight stunning tracks on Space In Between, I was repeatedly struck by the beauty of its compositions. While it doesn't perfectly align with my usual taste, I couldn't help but fall in love with it. "What I Need" feels like an ode to 90s music and it pushes you to answer key questions about life. I appreciate how the album's lyrics feel thought-provoking, delving into vulnerability and humanity through the lens of growing into a life that seeks greater freedom. "It's very honest, very raw and while truly personal, magically interpersonal. I have decided to let it be open and free, with much space in between, so it delivers quite a range of styles and emotion.", wiebke elaborates.

One of my favourite songs on the album is the spoken-word anthem "Rhythm" which adds another layer to the complexity of the young German artist. It sent me back to 2018 when I first heard Noname's Room 2025. Space In Between almost feels like a portfolio designed to show the world there's nothing wiebke can't do. From intimate lullabies like "Meeting Point" to the groove-heavy ignition "Fear", it is evident that the theme of freedom runs like a guiding thread through the entire release. Maybe that's the reason I felt empowered and inspired the first time I finished listening to the record.

The release of Space In Between had been celebrated with a special intimate night with fans and a live band. An event I am sure added flavor to the whole experience. wiebke has previously toured Europe, so I hope we can catch her live soon again. Keep an eye on this artist - her music is magic.
