Album Review: toe - Hear You

I've been waiting for this for years and somehow this actually caught me off guard, but nonetheless - the new toe album is officially out via Topshelf Records!

It's been 3 years since their legendary record Future Is Now - my personal watermark when it comes to math/post-rock music blended with beautiful acoustic sounds.I can't express enough how much I appreciate what these guys are doing. Absolutely passionate about the music, flawless when it comes to technique and their live shows - out of this world.

Anyhow, going back to present days, the Japanese four-piece just released their third full studio album titled Hear You and it definitely justifies the waiting period. The 11 tracks feel like a wave of seamlessly transforming sounds starting from the subtle and very smooth intro track "Premonition (Beginning of a Desert of Human)" which naturally eventually flows into "A Desert Human"... hence the titles.

Toe has always been about dynamics and the trend continues in this record. From very intense drumming to beats so simple and minimal one could barely sense in the background, Kashikura Takashi is a pure genius when it comes to percussion.

Going down the track list, I'm not sure who the singer on "Commit Balad" is, but it's definitely a nice additional touch to the whole record! Some other highlights of the records (at least for me) is "My Little Wish" (very upbeat and energizing tune) and "Because I Hear You".

As always, I would advise you to stream from - to and enjoy the record to the fullest. I think its slowly turning into my most favourite 2015 release so far.

Also, the guys are embarking on a tour, so if you're in the area they are playing - don't miss out on one of the best live acts out there!
