Mildlife has created the kind of experience that makes it tough for music journalists to easily land a description. Their album Chorus is a bright, sonic collage pieced together by a slew of different and unlikely influences.

The trio has swiftly grown into one of Australia’s most acclaimed acts with their distinctive fusion of jazz, psychedelia, and dance music - a combination that’s quite rare. With that being said, it’s no surprise when I tell you that finding an album that sounds like Chorus is bound to be a difficult task. The synths that are laced across this project are as bright as the ocean during sunset, while the vocals offer a sense of weightlessness with their dreamy appeal. In fact, the delivery is quite reminiscent of Michael Franks, and this gives Chorus quite a nostalgic feel to it.

Mildlife are clearly a collective of experts and it shows across this project - they’re not only incredibly talented but are also well-traveled by virtue of their openness to borrow from a multitude of cultural influences.
