Yep, today you'll be listening an album by Michael Cera. Yes, yes - that Michael Cera. The awkwardly talented Canadian who played in movies like Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Juno and Superbad. Not that you care, but I would pick Juno.
I've read in a few places that people had expected some emo/pop shyness when they heard his name. Nope. I actually have to say, the record sounds surprisingly experimental and drenched with a lot of folk/jazz influences. At times, I felt like I'm listening to some little brother of The Mars Volta (no offense, the musicianship is yet to grow). That is meant to be a compliment, by the way. But yea, kinda melancholic, very piano-driven. Idk, I think it's interesting to put the record out there and see what people think.
But yeah - I dig the tunes and the fact that he's a musician really came out of nowhere which definitely played a positive role into the way I perceived the album. I hope you like it too!
