Album Review: Isaac Gracie - Songs From My Bedroom EP

Since the debut release of "Last Words", Isaac Gracie has continued to cultivate a humbling growth of appreciation for his DIY approach to producing such hazy laments of truthfulness.

As the son of poet, Judith Gracie, it's clear that Isaac has inherited the gift of words, beginning to write songs at the mere age of 14. Gracie's established creativity is profoundly experienced in his new EP, Songs From My Bedroom as deep-seated, crippling notions seethe through crackled cries, unforced and earnest.

 

 

The five-track, home-recorded EP starts off with the powerful ballad, "Terrified"; a despairing confession with peaking levels that only add to the rawness of his plea. Following next is "Hollow Creek", self-deprecatingly introduced as the 'five million[th]' take, echoed expressions resonate a broken relationship and the soft instrumental utterances with genuine tenderness continue on in "All The Burning Lovers". Gracie's youthful wisdom emits through "We're So Very Lost" as he sings,

Peace is peace and love is love. Aren't we all just the same?

And finally, the journey concludes with the woeful lullaby, "Darkness Of The Day". The light-hearted melody contrasted with tragic remembrance, authentically reflects the soul that this 21 year-old musician vulnerably shares with the world.

Songs From My Bedroom is proof that in some rare and special cases, gear, technology, and production–does not matter.
