Not sure how the whole future funk started (probably long before I realized), but the person who sparkled my love for this beautiful blend is Griz. Sort of the father of it all!
Now it's time to share with you his absolutely energizing new record Say It Loud. In addition, Grant was awesome enough to share it with the whole world for free.
"Say It Loud is an album that took me all around the United States recording sounds from funk jam sessions to children's choirs, trumpet solos in the forest to saxophone lines in the boiler room of my house - it is an album for everyone. This music is meant to be experienced, danced to, sang along with, felt… that's what it's all about."
I had the chance to listen to most of the songs off the record before featuring it here, but now that the full release is out, I gotta say - it all feels like a stream of happiness which ends way too fast. The album is the perfect go-to place, especially if you're feeling down!
Full of awesome collaborations, Griz manages to get the best out of every person on the record. The Orlando Napier team up "A Fine Way To Die" is def my morning jam (the James Brown sample is on-the-spot).
The best thing, in my personal opinion, is the ongoing live elements in Say It Loud. I haven't had the chance to see his live show, but the album gives me a feeling of having real musicians around me. Something valuable in today's world of overly produced music...
I won't keep this long, this is more of a small but very thankful overview of the art of this dude, because I bet this will bring smiles and make people's day slightly better!
