There should be a thunderstorm named after the ever-youthful sounding Cloud Nothings. Two years after the excellent Attack On Memory they're again in the headlines with an album which somehow would suit more the title of the former one.
With Here and Nowhere Else they're indeed attacking your memory – the sound is familiar, their primary rage is again all over it, yet it still feels authentic and fresh. John Peel once described The Fall as 'always the same, always different' and somehow this applies to Cloud Nothings as well.
With highlights such as "Psychic Trauma" and "I'm Not Part of Me" their album is obviously a solid affair, although at times I wished they could take their sound somewhere further after it's more experimental predecessor. However, the record cleverly ends when the doubts begin to rise.
Here and Nowhere Else is produced by the member of the Kill Rock Stars-signed The Paper Chase John Congleton, whose varied discography as a producer includes artists like Erykah Badu, Marilyn Manson and Xiu Xiu. However, when you listen to the album you get the impression that it's like he hadn't much to do except pressing the record button and listen to the band rocking out.
