I have to say - it was quite the honour to have the opportunity to host the EP on our SoundCloud & premiere this absolutely stunning piece of LoFi hip hop music.
Not only because how purely personal long days.short years sounds, but also because musically the release is just mind-blowing. By drawing influence from hip hop, jazz, his Asian heritage, trap and organic instrumentation, mr. hong creates a relaxing and emotional experience.
When we first started talking with Matt it took me a while to understand why he wanted to release the EP as one instead of chopping into tracks, but now that I've had the chance to listen to the whole thing quite a few things, I finally understood the connectivity and evolution of each piece of the puzzle.
long days.short years is his first full-length project since his debut EP Colors (released via Cult Classic Records in 2015) and the first full-length work he releases.
