The vocal on “Higher Ground” is the kind I’d love to hear every night before I head to bed by virtue of their soothing nature.
Initially it was the lyrics which ensnared my attention although as this track progresses, the track becomes filled with these gorgeous layers of guitar works and comforting synths. I feel as if Aforest have combined dance grooves and a bedroom aesthetic to craft “Higher Ground”, to the point where this kind of sound likes a male version of Men I Trust. Because of the vocal performance, the lyrics come across as rosey and hopeful but according to Aforest, that’s not entirely the case.
"A large amount of the inspiration behind our music reflects on the struggles around balancing working life with creative passions and what it is like growing up as a young creative surrounded by technology and consumerism"
