A joyous day for every cratedigger out there.
Excited to present you a project by Uno Loop - a record label run by my friend, talented artist, and all-around awesome human being Raouf Grissa.
"Theme" is the first single from the RBGxDD LP and it represents an homage to jazz, hip hop, and timeless afro grooves. The album features Raouf himself, Dan Drohan (Nick Hakim, Olden Yolk, Andrew VanWyngarden of MGMT), Jarrett Gilgore (Heart of the Ghost, Jaimie Branch), and Kafari (Sudan Archives, Pink Siifu).
Raouf shares, "My friend / collaborator / fellow DJ in New York, Bobbie Johnston, and I started Uno Loop a few years ago. Initially, it was a platform to share vinyl mixes digitally and via cassette mixes, but it evolved to focus more on original releases and back catalog re-issue projects with older artists we’ve been able to meet over the years."
The artwork is a work by Carol Summers titled "Incredible String Band," from 1972. Carol was a pioneer for his woodblock printing techniques he innovated in the 1950s. The LP and artwork were licensed directly from Summers’ family. One of America's foremost printmakers with a career spanning over half a century, Summers has his works found in the MOMALACMA, NGA, and more.
The LP will be pressed on vinyl with a limited pressing of 250 including hand-typed & stamped notes. Official release date is June 9th. Stay tuned for more!
