My face is swollen after a complicated wisdom teeth removal surgery. I also slept extremely bad, bu all that elevated as soon as that 5:30 AM sun started peaking from the hill, accompanied by this next feature.
Meet Aaron Childs - a soul-nostalgia mastermind we first discovered in 2017 thanks to his soul-touching EP My Way. Fast-forward to 2023, Aaron is about to drop his 3rd EP No Rewrites and I'm excited to share with you the title track - a track that gives me that breezy feel-good Sunday morning feel. A true homage to the pop and soul sound of the 60s and 70s.
When it comes to the creation of the track, Aaron elaborates, "It's rooted in the throwback soul nostalgia that I grew up listening to and that influences most all of my music. The arrangement, complete with live strings and horns is meant to paint the picture of that moment when you find relief from a serious heartbreak. It's not a song about forgetting, but rather finally being able to move forward. Hopefully, the message of this tune raises spirits as well for anyone who's down on their luck with love, and allows them to feel that it's only temporary."
When I started playing this, I quickly forgot about the pain and started moving slowly in my room soaking in the first sun rays. If that's not true music, not sure what is. A pure soul experience crafted by the talented LA singer/songwriter.
Besides him, "No Rewrites" is produced by quite the dream team - Mars Today (Kyle Dion/Destin Conrad/Phabo) & Chris Keys (Lizzo, Quelle Chris). No Rewrites is scheduled for release on August 5th, so stay tuned.
