If I'm asked to name the most prominent one-person project in the ambient/composing field which I've discovered in 2014, then the answer would definitely be mindthings.
The French multi-instrumentalist never seizes to amaze me with the way he combines an x-amount of melodies into one very minimalistic-sounding progression of sounds. "Few Thousand Raindrops" feels like a post-rock song wrapped with classical instruments and attached to a balloon of ambient music floating somewhere up the sky. Listening to this at 7AM makes me wanna go out somewhere in the countryside and observe the beginning of a day - from animals & people waking up to sun's arrival. Not sure if I can properly convey the images my brain is creating while listening to this, but it's peaceful...
