Few months ago I've told you about Maybug with his song "Sleeping Gears". The now Bristol-based musician returns with "Out to Sea", a personal ballad and first extract of his debut 3-track EP Pollen Odyssey.
Pollen Odyssey - expected on September 18 - has been written at home, after a year spent travelling in Europe. As "Out to Sea" suggests it, this EP sounds more introspective than the previous songs released via Soundcloud. About its first extract, here's what it represents to Maybug:
"Out to Sea is a song about how there are times that I struggle with my state of mind, but that's OK, and not a completely bad thing - and that it is a part of who I am. And also letting go and forgiving myself for that. It is also a thank you to those people who took the time to help me, and how I look forward to being able to help them out whenever they should need it."
"Out to Sea" is about as soothing as looking at the ocean, guessing about the past storms and watching the crashing waves. The guitar melody mimics the warm and comforting setting sun. But even away from the sea, it was nice to discover the song in a Parisian courtyard in St Germain-des-près two weeks ago.
If you're around Bristol in September, Maybug will be performing at The Gallimaufry on the 29th.
