There's a huge array of up and coming artists in Liverpool, moreso the singer/songwriters than anything. Whilst there’s a great deal of talent in the area, the majority have a fairly generic sound. However, Darrell Coyle steps into that void and gives something with much greater substance.
His latest track "Fires" is a lullaby-like 4 and a half minutes of choir-y backing vocals and smooth guitar work drenched in his sultry tones. Coyle sets himself aside from so many with his versatility and musical bravado, seen throughout "Fires". The track builds and builds until the final minute where it all falls into place.
The harmonies, the gradual layering, the emotion… All of the track’s best features come into play simultaneously to give a real grand finale feel to the track. "Fires" is as emotive as it is soothing and it’s a stunning example of the UK’s finest.
