Time to add another member of the Soulection family to our website. Very happy to share with you this absolutely stunning piece of work by the American beatmaker/producer Zikomo.
The groovy house re-imagination of the original was released on the 7th of February as a tribute to the late J Dilla and Nujabes who share a birthday. The LA-based producer delivers a house-meets-funk-meets-disco flip on J Dilla’s dope remix of "Purple" by 90s trip hop trio Crustation.
As soon as the remix kicked off, I jumped out of bed, instinctively moving to the steady 4/4 drumbeat. A discovery that got me uber-hyped.
