Introducing Alex Burey a 19-year-old producer, songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist from South London. His latest offering "The Intimidator" serves up a dreamy slice of celestial pop.
Inspired by a range of soundscapes from artists including Rotary Connection, Scott Walker, Art Of Noise and Apex Twin (he listened almost exclusively to 'Selected Ambient Works Volume II' for two years in his mid-teens). Alex has nourished his craft of singing, songwriting and production since the age of seven. He's already drawn comparisons to the likes of Damon Albarn, but his sound is unlike any other artist around at the moment.
Granted there are slight similarities to fellow South Londoner King Krule, but Burey seems to draw more from 60s/70s psychedelia as opposed to the trip hop and jazz elements of Krule's music.
Anyway, have a listen and melt into the hushed, warm colourful palette of "The Intimidator" and let it wash over you. If your not familiar with his work, backtrack through some of Burey's earlier work on SoundCloud and see what you've been missing out on.
"The Intimidator" is the lead single from his forthcoming debut EP Inside World, due on February 9th.
